The Cabinet Market. Words that I thought would take an eternity to be come a reality. Simon and I had been working toward this for a long time. I have been in the building industry for most of my life. As a boy I was pushing a broom on the job sites that my Dad was working on. There was many times I was fetching this and that, and holding the end of a board for him to start a nail. It was those times that I learned what hard work was. I learned that taking a little more time can equal a greater amount of quality and craftsmanship. I learned that if you stick with it, you will have a lot to be proud of. I had the awesome opportunity to work with my Dad after college, installing and building cabinets. We have placed cabinets in some of the nicest houses on the Grand Strand. Those were good times.

My path crossed with Simon Phillips back in 2009 on a construction project that I was managing. I hired Simon to do some painting for us and was very impressed with the way he conducted business. His pricing was fair and his quality of work was excellent. We became friends over the years to come. A few years back, we began to toss around the idea of getting into the cabinet retail business. I started selling cabinetry and installing for many different companies and brands.  One brand that I have had the most experience with and have seen the most consistency in quality is Wellborn. Wellborn is a family owned company built on many of the same ethics and standards that I was taught as a child. I have had the blessings of sharing meals with the Wellborn family and experiencing the people that stand behind the product. When I sell a product, I want to able to stand behind that product and be proud of it. Wellborn’s cabinets are green certified, and Wellborn uses sustainable forestry practices. Wellborn cabinets are built by hardworking Americans in Ashland, Alabama by people who care.

In 2015, Simon and I had the opportunity to purchase a building and open a retail location to sell cabinetry. We renovated our location to incorporate a showroom and office spaces. Today we are the only Wellborn dealer in the Myrtle Beach area. We provide quality cabinetry to Surfside Beach, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, and Pawley’s Island areas. We carry cabinets, countertops, and decorative hardware. It is exciting for me to see how The Cabinet Market has grown into what it is today.
